Description

These Tuna Melt Patties are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal option, combining flaky tuna with melted cheddar cheese and flavorful seasonings. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they are pan-fried to golden perfection and perfect for serving as sandwiches or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

Optional Garnishes

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the flaked tuna, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape them into small patties, about 1/2 inch thick. If the mixture feels too loose, add a little more breadcrumbs to help it hold together.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the skillet in batches if needed. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Serve: Transfer the cooked patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or on a bun as a sandwich. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired.

Notes

  • If the patties are too fragile, adding more breadcrumbs will help bind them better.
  • Use medium heat to ensure the patties cook through without burning.
  • These patties can be made ahead and reheated in a skillet or oven.
  • Serve with tartar sauce, aioli, or a spicy mayo for added flavor.
  • Optionally, add finely chopped celery or bell peppers to the mixture for extra crunch.
